A lot of these songs are about ghosts, of both the living and the dead. This strange feeling of mourning the loss of someone who is still very much alive but also very much not in your life anymore. They can haunt you even more than the dead can. Because their absence is, in a way, voluntary. Unlike the actual dead.

Nearly all of the songs were recorded on a 388. The person who sold it to me claimed that it was once owned by Dr. Dog. Albeit highly unlikely, I choose to believe it.
